San Ginesio beautiful medieval village castled on
the hill at 700 m a.s.l., a mountain of history and an open window on
the infinite ...
From the Gran Sasso, through the Monti della
Laga, and the magic, Monti Sibillini, to Monte Conero,
and from there to San Benedetto del Tronto, in a succession of
breathtaking views across hills and valleys, which intermittently
glimpse of the blue line of the Adriatic Sea, and then thundering
at the Gran Sasso.
The strategic location and a people proud and often rebellious, did the
San Ginesio one of the most important and fiercely contested, the
state of the church.
Reached its peak, between 1200 and 1500, a document speaks of the
establishment of a body of canons of the Collegiate Church, a sign of
prosperity and vitality of the administration.
The castle becomes a free city often beset by internal strife or with
the neighboring municipalities.
San Ginesio reaches around 1250, according to historians, the 27
thousand inhabitants. From the middle of the '200 to 1434 the town was
under the influence of the Da Varano family.
Today San Ginesio is "disputed" by all those who appreciate
history, art, peace, clean air and good food.
