Archaeological Sites
The province of Pesaro Urbino is characterized, in the course of
history, for his constant was a place of passage. The human
presence is attested from the Lower Paleolithic: many were
scattered finds of stone tools, arrowheads, axes, tools. Sparse
human settlement was the pre-Roman and open to the influences of
concomitant Italic peoples Piceno, Gallic, and Umbria, at least
as the presence of a commercial nature, Etruscan.
The key issue is the Flaminia way in many places the trail
follows its guidelines already visited in prehistoric times,
especially in areas such as steep gorges and Burano Candigliano
or the coastal stretch between Fanum Fortunae and Ariminum,
where physical geography was strongly conditioning and forced to
narrow places, still followed by the current road, which is
along this axis are most common archaeological finds.
